It would be great if we could somehow encode a thread ID into the URL or something so we could bookmark interesting threads.

Good suggestion! Others that have been made in the past include things like periodically posting a longer contribution as a springboard for on-line discussion. If anyone else has ideas, we'd like to hear them.
There is a much larger range of conferencing software available today compared to when we started up the Forum three years ago. We *are* looking at updating things, but just at the moment that's taking a back seat to more pressing issues. Hopefully, we'll be able to bump this up the priority list when all the dust has settled.
I'm not actually the administrator, but support for the Forum comes out of my budget, so I have a fair amount of input ;-)

You can book mark threads and copy links. I think the reason you don't see the URL for threads is this sites use of frames. From LC Message Board you can right click on any thread and copy shortcut. Then paste it into the address field. Delete everything after html then you can add to favorites or whatever. This works with IE at least.
An easier way to upload a file while you are typing a response would be nice.

Great Tom,
I just right clicked on some portion on this chainīs text, then on "select all", then right clicked again on the text and clicked on "copy". This whole chain could then be transferred into Word via Edit and "paste". Edit and "paste special" + "unformatted text" gave a less formatted version.
Before, I had to print out a chain, scan it, OCR it, etc. to get it into Word (for saving purposes).
