OK, I've got Agilent Chemstation for GC, revision A.05 on a 6890 system. Changes to column type, oven max, inlet temp., etc., cause the software to "go wacky" and try to "resolve" method differences, which is a giant headache. Sure, that might be good for a pharmaceutical QC lab, but here at R&D we change columns and stuff all the time. Anybody have a macro or workaround so that the software doesn't drive us more nuts?

Can you be more specific. We have the same intrumentation and software and also changes columns and operating conditions often without any problems.

I think there is a way to disable method resolution by making a change to the win.ini file. Contact Agilent and see if they have the info.

From initiator: if we have column A and column B in the GC with oven max of 280 C, and we change oven max to 250 C and save the method, then the next method loaded "sees" that change, and approximately six parameters get "resolved" with the icons dancing around the screen. Similar if we "install" a column "C" or change inlet, FID temperatures......

Here is your way to disable the method resolution in the HP Agilent ChemStation software:

To Disable Method Resolution:
1) Go to the Win.ini file in Windows.
2) Go to the PCS Section, top level.
Before Instruments add the line: Disable6890MethRes=1

Dennis-----

Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! That piece of software has caused me much grief over the years.

All I've ever wanted was a 'Leave things alone! You have no idea what I'm doing!' button, but this is even better!

Scott
