Hayesep is a proprietary name for a porous polymer bead packing made by Bill Hayes in Texas who originally performed research on these beads when introduced in the early 1960s. There are several polymer formulations which give rise to different letters of Hayesep: Hayesep A, Hayesep B, Hayesep C, Hayesep D, Hayesep P, Hayesep Q, Hayesep R, Hayesep S, Hayesep T, etc. Styrene, divinylbenzene, mixed with various co-polymers and are reacted to form spherical beads in mesh sizes from 40 mesh to 270 mesh.
Similar products are Waters Porapaks, and Chromosorb Century series polymer beads.
Is that enough information?
Rod

In addition to these packed columns, "similar" polymers are now used in PLOT (Porous Layer Open Tubular) megabore columns (Varian, Agilent, Supelco ...)
