I am a Chemist Student and my CG-Test involve the Analysis of Methylene Cloride and Hexene by GC.
I use a DB-624 column, but the first peak relative to Hexene (Hexene-1) co-eluate with the peak relative to Methylene Cloride.
My GC-conditions:

40 degree (10min)
40 degree to 200 degree at 35 degree / min
Inector: 200 degree
FID: 250 degree
Column: DB-624 (30m x 0,25 mm x 3um)

Analytes: THF, Hexene, Methylene Cloride and Etyl Acetate.

Tanks for your help

Hints:
Try to alter some of your conditions, eg. injector temp, oven ramp temp. Hint: it is not necessary to hold your oven temp at 40deg for 10 minutes, a 1 minute hold is sufficent.

If the DB-624 is equivalent to an RTX-624 (different vendor), try starting at 35 C 1 to 4 min. hold, ramp at 15 C / min.

As a courtesy, please post your progress to the board. The out come to suggestions from the board may be helpful to others.

Good luck!

A '624' phase is excellent for the separation, but you will always find some components which will coelute.
In this case I always use a second (WAX52) column. All alkane peaks will elute in the first part of the chromatogram and the other components later.

I resolve this problem with 40oC (7.5 min), rate 35oC/min, at 30 cm/sec (Hydrogen) and cappilar column DB-624 (30 m x 0.53 3um).
