Hi all!
I use Varian's Saturn 2100T with 3900 GC. Recently, I changed septa and
since then I've got a peak at about 174°C in all methods that I use. Library
recognized the spectrum as 1,2-benzenedicarboxylicacid, diethyl ester. Is it
possible that it's from the septa? How can I get rid of that peak?

If you want to isolate that it's really from the septa, substitute one of the old ones for a few runs. If you don't have any others left, try wrapping a septum in aluminum foil. Isolate the problem first, then it's easier to solve.

Ethyl Phthalate is a plasticizer and can be found in perfumes and plastics.
How was the septa packaged and was anyone who handled it wearing perfume?
