I am currently using Methylene Chloride (CH2Cl2) as solvent. Is that proper to using acetone to replace CH2Cl2 since CH2Cl2 has a huge background peak. Any other recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Sorry I write it wrong. I mean chloform in stead of acetone. Thanks.

What analysis are you trying to perform? I would not expect chloroform to be better, but not enough information is given to give a real answer.
