I use Chromosorb 102 in a packed glass column to determine low MW alcohols in beverages. It is very selective in that I only see aldehydes, ketones and alcohols eluting into the FID.Other compounds seem to be retained in the column/liner.

Is there a suitable capillary replacement I could try?

My samples contain up to 50% water!!!

Thanks in advance

Are you wanting to measure water? You are correct about other volatile components of beverages being retained on-column.

After heptane, other larger components get very broad on porous polymer packed columns.

What other components do you wish to measure?

Supelco's Equity 1701 capillary columns do a very nice job separating acetone, methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, n-propanol, and ethyl ether

and are durable to water injections.

Yes, I work for Supelco. Use our Tech service for more answers.
