Anyone had any trouble with these cartridge type filters - especially with wax columns??
I have two capillaries in my GC feeding from the same helium supply. One is a wax column and the other is a 624.
In the wax channel I have had a gross contamination. I have cleaned liners, washed injectors and carrier lines to no avail.
Today I replaced the filter (<2years old) and hey presto - clean baseline.
But I had no problem with the 624?
In the 2nd chromatogram after I replaced the filter I got a huge peak at the end of the ramp and a wavy baseline until the GC cooled. I assume this was the contaminant in the original filter passing through?
Has anyone had this before?
David

here's one site that posted a diagram of their apparatus:

why not make your own diagram?
