I am a big time HPLC method validation anlyst and have never done force degradation study using a GC for sample analysis. Is there anything I need to look out for and why haven't I come across other stability indicating GC methods.

How would you propose evaluating peak purity with GC? GC-MS comes to mind but not all labs are so equipped...

Peak purity would be dificult. We do not have a GC-MS. We would have to go back in time and just look for coeluting peaks. Also, we would degrade the compound by at least 5%. If the peak grows instead of shrinks we will assume peak coelution. If it goes down we assume the peak is pure.
