Please help an ignorant QC Analyst. What is a simple definition for manual integration and when is it acceptable to do it and when is it not?

Rick,
simple words,
Manual int - when you specify(by drawing) the start of the integration baseline and the end of it.You want where to start and end.
auto int - you let the software to do it by specifying the (in Millenium software)threshold, peak width...
acceptable or not, depends on your regulation.when times before any software, we use drawing on the charted paper. that is manual! However, there maybe times where software can not make it for you.
