My analytical laboratory is attempting to extract and analyze XAD-2 resins used to collect air samples from an industrial air stack. We are using a methylene chloride soxhlet extraction with a KD concentration. Analysis is on an Agilent GC/MS. We are running into a high phthalate concentration at about 40 minutes which is crapping out the column and MS detector. Has anyone run into a method to clean phthalates from a MeCl2 solution?

Phthalates are often in Teflon lines. Do you have any Teflon anywhere? I see them all the time if I use certain tranferlines.
