Can any one explain to me what precuations to be taken in regenerating packed columns, espically molecular sieves column.

You need to install the column in a GC oven, detector connection is not recommended, buy may be used to monitor baseline. Set the column carrier flow to at least 30ml/min with helium. Raise the oven temperature to 300°C. Condition the colum for 2-4 hours. Do not over condition the column (too hot or too long), carbon monoxide peak may begin to tail slightly if you over condition the column.
