I would like to buy a LC/MS or a LC/MS/MS.
Has somebody analysed surfactants (cationics, non ionics) with LC:MS. Where can Ifound publications. I have to choice between different vendors, Waters,Agilent, Thermoquest and I havent't any practical experience in MS. I don't know what is the equipment adapted to work well with this products. What kind of MS detector is adapted for a sensitive detection for this kind of component.

Hi,
I am working within a project dealing with the fate of different surfactants in environmental matrices. Methodology is mainly based on LC-MS(MS) detection. You can find a lot of information on our the web site www.pristine-wwc.de
I think an electrospray ionization source is the most universal choice for interfacing.

PS: Warning: analysis of cationic and amphoteric surfactants is really challenging!!

Evaporative Light Scattering Detection may be an easier method for Surfactant analysis. Send me your e-mail address or postal address and I will send an application note.
