HP Chemstation software allows autoinjector internal needle flush to waste, but PE Sciex Analyst 1.1 (and soon 1.2) does NOT allow this feature to be used. Spoke with PE & they do not plan to correct this shortcoming.I MUST have this flush but Can't bypass Analyst software or LC/MS data lost, even though Chemstation can be operated with manual controls. Two "Masters" makes system crash. PE says they haven't had requests for this feature. Anyone else had this problem?
Thanks, Wayne Aruda

We are running Analyst 1.1 and Chemstation on the same PC.
Analyst is running with GPIB and Chemstation with LAN Connection.
First you have to start Chemstation and then Analyst (Otherwise they are crashing). The only problem is after shutdown of the PC (first close Analyst and then Chemstation), that the Chemstation is crashing (the problem is perhaps, that the Chemstation is writing into the WIN.INI-File). But normaly they are working fine together!
My information about Analyst 1.2 is, that the bypass programm of the autosampler will be supported ?!?
I hope this helps,
Martin

Aruda,
We have exactly the same problem. Martin said he is having two programs in one computer, but the PE guys would not allow us to do it (I did not ask them officially, but they told me I have to dedicate the whole computer for the Analyst software ONLY, to avoid any crashes). What we are doing right now is that we would add in some wash samples during runs and hope this would eliminate the carry-over problem. Do you have a carry-over problem? When you are running MRM experiments, do you have a 0 count for your analyte? It is because our analyte somehow get into the ionsourse and even if we are running blank,we could get a count of over 200. (Before washing, it was over 1000). But we have been very careful with the system already, do you have similar problems?
Thank you!

April,
I have reviewed this board today and found that the carryover problem with the HP 1100 autosampler is rampant.....an internal needle wash is necessary to help....The problem is with PE Sciex software, especially in GLP/GMP labs where you can not overide, even when crashes are avoided....PE has not been willing to write the internal needle wash into their program, Analyst 1.1 many people have moved to the Micromass system which has better software......Hard to believe a manufacturer would allow so many lost sales of a wonderful instrument (and expensive.PE Sciex )due to a software deficiency that truly causes significant problems for many of its customers.. I would be happy to discuss this further with you, please contact me directly at aruda@agrenetics.com
