1. Will someone please tell me the application of lc/ms and theory underlying (in brief) and the difference between lc/ms and lc/ms/ms.

2. Can peak purity be done by lc/ms alone if yes please explain how? And how else the lc/ms be used? Basically the main applications of this technique.

3. What does lc/ms/ms do in addition to lc/ms and its applications.

I will highly appreciate a nice and detailed explanation plus any website relevant to my questions.

Thanks and love

Britney

We are not going to do your homework for you. Maybe you should ask someone in your sorority.

Britney,

I won't do your homework, but you can try this :

Good luck

Britney,

You will probably not find your answers here because it would take too much time to answer them properly. And no one here is going give that time for someone elses work.
The following reference isn't as simple as a website, but try a book called "A Global View of LC/MS" by Willoughby, Sheehan, and Mitrovich. It has the answers you need, and it's written for beginners in the field of LC/MS and mass spectrometry. If you can't find it in a library, you can check around for someone doing LC/MS or any mass spectrometry. I'd be surprised if someone in those labs didn't have a copy.
And I'll throw this one in too.
"Mass Spectrometry : Principles and Applications"
by Edmond De Hoffmann, Vincent Stroobant

Hi Britney,

I'm an application specialist with Agilent Technologies and when I read the above messages, I couldn't help but remembering my first days of learning this stuff and looking for help. If you think it's appropriate, I would be willing to spend 30-60 minutes with you over the phone to point you in the right directions for the basics. I promise that I would not bias the info as a vendor but that I would give a genuine help. If you agree, just reply to this and we'll find a way to get in touch.

Linda.

Britney,

Many chromatography vendors (column and instruments) have application notes that are available free of charge. you could look at the waters web page or that of thermoHypersil Keystone.

Good luck,

Colin Crowley

Everybody,

this forum is to help everybody about their problems, not to insult people. Nobody knows everything. so let us stop intimidating others. If you know a question is too basic for you to answer, just ignore it and keep your ego in your closet at home.

Britney, dont let anybody intimidate you ask any questions you will like to ask. No question is to small or stupid

With the exception of the anonymous response in the second posting above, I don't see where anyone is being intimidated. I'm willing to help when I see that someone doesn't understand. It's not an issue to me if the question is basic, but I will not take the time to type a detailed explanation that can just be cut and pasted from this screen to be an answer on someone elses homework.

What was the clue to this being homework?....

1. Have you ever met anyone over 25 named Brittany?

Top of pagePrevious messageNext messageBottom of pageLink to this message  By Brian K. on Friday, March 1, 2002 - 05:41 am:

Do I know for sure? No. But, three discussion questions written down, no other issues about her misunderstanding or clarification on information that she already obtained, and that any answer can just be copied verbatim. If it walks like a duck....
And where's the clue that Britney is over 25?

Brian:

I guess you missed my sarcasm....
The first clue WAS no one over 25 is named Britney.... this would lead one to conclude that she was still in school.

I have a lc/ms/ms system in my lab which i use for analysis in boiequivalence and bioavailability study. As MS is an specific detector it should give a peak in TIC mode for only given ion, but i observe an peak in blank plasma sample.Since the volunteer is fresh how it is happening i really do not understand? Pls help.
