Hello,
do somebody have experience to inhibit growth of algae and fungus in
LCMS solvents.
We need to run 100% water for our chromatography, so it is no help to
add solvents like Acetonitril. I´m also not sure whether NaN2 (1mM?)
is suitable for electrospray ionisation! Are there other alternatives
(except mechanical filtering) for using with LCMS?
Thanks,
Martin

Dear Martin;
The two suggestions above will help no doubt about it. I can offer two additional recommendations. Use a dark glass reservoir that you can sparge with helium, and keep a small flow of helium flowing at all times. This will eliminate Oxygen from your water and will further prevent bacterial growth. If you want to be ultra safe, look for an inmersion UV lamp that you could use to maintain your water sterile.
Good luck;
Benjamin

Thanks a lot for your help.
I wanted to summarize the feedback I got till now:
1. Prepare solvent daily
2. Dark bottles
3. drop of Toluene
4. copper wire
5. UV lamp
6. Helium flow
I think this is a nice summary.
