Hi everyone, since in lab's the safety-matters are becoming more & more important, I would like to know in details what the real safety risks are in working with GC/MS? What protections are definitely required: safety glasses? For sample preparation and derivatization, handling gas containers (under pressure) and cryogenic liquids (see recent article in LC/GC of Jan.) and the analyzing with GC/MS itself?
Can someone comment on this, or give references to this subject?
Same would be interesting and welcome for working with LC/MS!
Thanks!!
Els

The real risk in a lab is ignorant and not well educated people.
The fact that there are way too many people involved who do not actually work in the lab is adding to the problem. They create problems and find solutions in order to keep their jobs.
To come to your question. There are no specific safety risks in working with GC/MS as long as you are well educated and you know what you are doing.
