Hi, Can any body suggest GC/MS system for semi volatiles and volatiles in drinking and waste water. I am looking for reliability, ruggedness, and stability.
Thanks

I have used Agilent for many years and find them very rugged. Their Chemstation software, however, leaves something to be desired.

In addition to the GCMS itself it is worth thinking about the sample introduction:
1. I have found the CTC Analytics autosampler very versatile and flexible for doing SPME, headspace injection and liquid injection, even sample prep. Very quick to change between modes. It is on a 5973 but I do have occasional software conflicts between the two.

2. and/or a multipurpose injection port. I have had a lot of success with the ATAS Optic programmable injector in different modes, including large volume injection.

have some interesting application notes on water analysis

I would not rule out the PerkinElmer Clarus 500 GC with the TurboMass Gold. www.perkinelmer.com The best course of action would be to talk to all the manufactures to find the best one for you. I prefer the PerkinElmer, specially since you can get the PerkinElmer's with an Arnel solution. An Arnel solution is an engineered solutions to make the seperation that you require, which will possibily reduce the need for additional runs. You could also talk to them at www.arnelinc.com

i have a different idea on the above suggestions while considering the GCMS i feel shimadzu is the best at this moment with respect to the sensitivity and their lib support the advantage of shimadzu is that their DI technique is very strong and it is patented and this option is not available with any other brands i feel shimadzu 2010 with combipal is a very good combination.
