I've used Agilent/HP GC-GC/MSD equipment for years. Occassionaly we look at other manufacturers when considering new equipment. I'd like comments on GC, GC Mass Spec. equipment if you have experience with companies outside of Agilent/HP.

I haven't found other vendors whose software could read/search our intensive lab-developed Agilent GCMS libraries, so this drives our decision.

I like Turbochrom / Totalchrom and the service I get from Perkin-Elmer on GC and HPLC but inherited a Varian Saturn 2000 GC-MS.

This Saturn is good but the 8400 autosampler doesn't use plunger in needle syringes so I have gross carry-over sometimes - I am currently seeking plunger in needle syringes that fit and doesnt bend. However the 3800 GC attached to the Saturn is very good with a quick cooldown after ramps.
