I'm quite new in LC/MS, and I would like to know if any of you uses some good books. Mostly I would like to know about spectral interpretation for LC/MS (Electrospray and APCI)
I use a HP1100 MSD (single quad).

I have found this very helpful and inspiring:
"Electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, fundamentals, instrumentation & applications", edited by Richard B Cole,
John Wiley & Sons 1997
ISBN 0-471-14564-5

Please help me where I am wrong! Despite tremendous advancements in LC/MS, I still have not seen any review on how to identify UNKNOWNS from first principles. Regarding the different spray ionization techniques: Is it still not a situation of "Spray and pray"!!? :-}

There are some pretty nice instructional type files you can download from HP/Agilent's web site ("Mass Spectral Information for the LC Chromatographer", and "Basics of LC/MS"). I think Waters also has something like this available on their site.

Why use LC-MS for detecting stanozolol, and not the old method with GC?
