Has anybody heard about the SGE ms-Novent device for changing columns without venting the vaccum system?

Because the different sources of samples I have to determine, it would be very useful to change between different columns (i.e. from DB-624 1 um 30m x 0.25mm to DB-5 0.1 um 15m x 0.25 mm or 0.25 um 30m x 0.25mm) without venting the vacuum system. The GC would be ready in minutes.

Does anybody have any experience with such a device?

Thanks in advance

The company I recently worked for tested it and found that it lives up to its claims. There is, however, a similar product from a European company with a similar name (to SGE). This was found to be unreliable

We have U.S. SGE No-Vent on HP 5890II/5971 GCMS system and it seems to work fine, no peak distortion or loss. We did have to increase the inlet pressures by 2 to get the same linear velocities.

The SGE ms-NoVent is a product that works as-advertised for switching capillary columns without the need to vent the mass spectrometer. It makes changing columns in a GC/MS system as easy as with a GC/FID system.

Alltech Associates, Inc. also sells the "GC/MS Switching Valve", which also allows the analyst to change capillary columns without venting the mass spectrometer to the atmosphere, but if the GC is equipped with two injectors, you can also switch back and forth between two installed capillary columns without venting the MS.
