That is all I know! Go to Mr Sketch Ink(The website about chromatography). It is very informative.

Try using the library. Find a book on chromatography or just look in an encyclopedia. Use something that you can reference. The lessons learned in your English comp class should not be forgotten when you enter a science class. Websites like this can be very useful in the right context, but you never know when someone is giving you false information. You should really be wary of this happening since professionals are getting tired of lazy high school students expecting us to do their work for them.

Oh, this is an easy one! Just walk over to your brick and mortar library and pick up an encyclopedia. You will be sure to find at least a couple of good pages explaining this in a concise and easy to understand format. Or, pick up one of those science books like you would find at the "Nature Store" or any major bookstore. These should also be available in the library.
Nothing in life is more valuable and CAN'T be taken away from you, are good research, reasoning, and problem solving skills. Learn them and you will be a very successful person.

Hi Cécile,
the best way to detect alcohols in wine and spitit is gas-chromatography. Due to the high resolution of gc-columns you get a signal for each homologue alcohol. Enzymatic determination of alcohol (like in boehringer-ingelheim kits) gives you only a summary, because the enzyme alcoholdehydrogenase reacts not only with the ethanole but also with methanole and other homologues.
Hope this helps you.
Gregor
