I would be very pleased if anyone knows a free basic software for teaching simulation and optimization in CG or LC.

If you're looking for a good software available in french, you can contact JMBS at contact@jmbs.com
I've been using their Borwin software for about three years for education purposes.

You can download a free evaluation version of DryLab at http://www.lcresources.com. It includes 16 example files that allow you to model parameters such as %B, gradient time, pH, temperature, buffer concentration, etc, as well as column parameters (particle size, flow, column length, etc.). If you want to e-mail me privately, I can also provide additional examples that we use in our own training courses.
