I would be very pleased if anybody knows a basic free software for simulation and/or optimization teaching in LC or GC.

You can download an evaluation version of our DryLab program (http://www.lcresources.com/dldown.htm). It includes 18 or so examples of separations varying %B, pH, temperature, gradient time, GC heating rate, etc.
If you want to e-mail me privately (tom.jupille@lcresources.com), I can also provide another hundred or so example files that we use in our HPLC training courses.
