Does anyone have any information about the company Biotek Kontron? Any positive or negative experiences with their HPLC equipment? I believe Biotek took over Kontron about 2 years ago. What happened to Kontron? Does anyone have any experience of service/repairs from this company?

We have money to purchase an HPLC system-any advice on our purchase would be welcome. We are seeking a simple gradient system with data handling and UV detection

Do yourself a favor and buy an Agilent 1100. You will not be disappointed with the hardware.

Agree with above "anonymous". Avoid problems, never regret it.

If only Agilent decided to modify their lousy 1100 autosampler....

Besides the Agilent 1100 series, I would think about buying a Waters 600 series with a 2487 Dual Wavelenght UV-detector (good sensitivity) and Waters Millennium32-Datamanagement. I worked with this equipment for about 8 years now and never had to face any problems. OK, the data-software is a little sophisticated, but once you get used to it...
If you don 't care about GLP and FDA, you might well think about the new Waters Breeze system - a good system for a very nice price, I think!

Kontron is still alive and doing a good job.
We are using a Kontron (Bio-Tek)HPLC which is ten years old. Itīs a real good HPLC for routine-work.
Kontron developed a new software system and a new HPLC-system (serie 5). Look at their website www.kontron-bioanalytical.com

The quality of service depends on where you are.
All HPLC's are much of a muchness but you should concentrate on the data system as you will spend most of your time here.
M32, Chemstation and Biotek cannot compare to Dionex Chromeleon CDS. I run the Chromeleon system and have good experience of the instrumentation which is the same instrumentation produced by Gynkotek.
It would certainly be wirth you getting a demo - once you see the software, you will see what I mean.
