While reading some HPLC validation literature, I came across a brief discussion of System Suitability with a reference to a "gradient capacity factor" identified as K-bar, used in place of the usual capacity factor K-prime.

I've checked through all my books on HPLC and I can find nothing on this subject. Can anyone shed some light on the derivation and use of this parameter.

Tim Kearsley.
