hi I am a complete novice and must write up the results of a lab using thin layer chromatography to separate out the photosynthetic pigments.

Can anyone example the meaning and value of Rf values?

The Rf value or Retardation factor is :
The distant moved by the solute divided by the distance moved by the solvent (or solvent front).
The Rf value allows you to identify the pigments. Hope this is of some help, Sara xx
