Hello All:
I've read an article about turbulent flow chromatography. Because I'm working in a high throughput enviroment, analysis time is the bottle neck. The article stated cycle times of about 2 minutes. Does anybody have any experiance with this techniek and what are the possible aplications, pro's / con's of the techniek etc.
Many thanks for any information provided.

It is nothing but very fast chromatography, nothing turbulent about it. You may read our article on how to optimize fast chromatography in Rapid Comm. Mass Spec. 15 (2001), 141-151

I regularly use turbulent flow chromatography and have written several articles on the subject. The use of turbulence is quite a controversial one and not one that everybody agrees with (in particular anybody working for Waters;)), however if you are looking at reducing analysis times then I think everybody would agree it is an excellent approach. I would strongly reccomend you having a look at the Cohesive Technologies website www.cohesivetech.com, as these guys sell the kit.

Tony,
I do not confuse marketing with science. The Cohesive Turbulent Chromatography is marketing.
Best regards

PS: I'll be glad to discuss the figures 4.8 and 4.9 in your article in Bioanalytical Separations Vol. 4 with you in detail and in public. However, I'll be away from computers for about a month. I'll be glad to return to the subject afterwards.
