Hi!

Just wondering if we can compare hydrophobicity of c8 and c18 Vs polystyrene-divinilbenzene.
Can we extrapolate RPC data from c8 or c18 to PS-DVB to isolate drug molecules from impurities?

Your inputs would be of great help.

thanks in advance.

Both work in a similar way, when used with reversed-phase mobile phases. However, for a prediction of retention for the preparative isolation I think you need a fairly good data set for calibration. In addition, the selectivity is guaranteed to be different. If C18 resilves the impurities, I would not bet that PS-DVB would do as well.

PS-DVB has significant differences in selectivity. The PS-DVB has a greater affinity for aromatics compared with standard Reversed Phase columns.
