Can anyone recommend an external circuit breaker-type unit for our analytical laboratory? We experience 6-7 instances per year where we have power failure or maybe a brown-out followed by the power coming suddenly back on, and our instruments then powering back up. The power failure is not so bad, but when the power suddenly kicks back on, it is extremely bad for the instruments. I am not really looking for a UPS or power back-up system, as I am not concerned about losing data. I am looking for a system to plug my instruments into, and then after a power failure, manually pushing some type of button before my instruments can come up to full power.

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Almost any 5-10 minutes time-delay relay, suitable to carry the required current should handle that easily. Mount it in an approved box.
(Check with your local electrical supplies store)

Note:
This idea may also benefit some air conditioners, etc...

We had a simple "black box" constructed by our electronics group to protect a LC/MS from firing back up after a power outage. This worked a treat. When we came back after a power outage we would press a reset then power up again. Mind you, the 20 KVA UPS we have installed now is heaps better!!!!
