Hello All,
I received, the other day. a LABNET dual channel computer card (IBM/PC)but no software. (I also received a few LABNET interface boxes) It appears
LABNET closed it doors. Anyone here who could recommend a place to obtain LABNET software or
is this all dead inventory?
BTW, Most older instruments made by Spectra Physics seem to have a LABNET connector (SP8780, SP8800,SP8810, etc..)as an output port. Can LABNET function without LABNET computer software?
(Like can a Waters Data Modules 746 LABNET connected to a SP8780 function as its controller / printer or is RS232 the only way?)
Thank you for any help,
Joe Rongen

With Labnet, the "protocol" resides in each module. As long as you have the cables and the 12 volt dc power supply, everything will communicate. Each module must have the same LAbnet unit number(creating a system with unit number "x")You can then program each module independantly, or use the dialog in the integrator. Labnet can do many things, but you need to be aware of the terminology. Have you tried ThermoFinnigan to see if any oldtimers have any Labnet manuals?

Thank you, for that explanations.
I went out of my way to give each unit a different
Labnet number. Will regroup that tomorrow.
I have two original 12 VDC SP power supplies and three SP interface boxes (model SP45 00 -CH2 and two SP4500 remote display readouts). That with the SP8800 and the Waters 746 should make a reasonable setup. Any buyers out here? :-)
Thanks again, best regards Joe
