We are currently using the 8.03 version of chemstation for our Agilent 1100 HPLC. On a few occasions we have used our FLD detector to obtain FL scans of certain compounds. Unfortunately we are unable to export those scans (or even isoabsorbance plots) into presentation format (powerpoint, word, etc.) aside from printing out the FL scan, then scanning that into a .TIF or .PDF file. Does anyone know of a macro or software patch or anything that can be done to directly export these graphics?

I've figured out how to do it (In a round about kind of way). First you want to bring up the 3D scan on the screen. Then hit alt-print screen. This effectively copies the screen you are on to the clip-board. Next open the windows paint program, go to edit and hit paste (anything saved to the clipboard will automatically be used in a paste function). From here you can crop the picture and change any colors if you want. Then copy the modified picture and paste it in your word/powerpoint/etc. program. This probably isn't the best way to do take care of this issue, but its the only one that I know of, even the Agilent people didn't know how to do what I asked.

If you hit alt-print screen you have copied the screen image to the clipboard. What you are doing by going into Paint creates a bitmap, which can get very distorted if you try to resize it. If you have the other program (Word, PowerPoint, etc.) open you can make that program active, then hit control-V and paste directly into the program from the clipboard. This pastes in a vector mapped image, which is much more compact than a bit mapped image. You can also save the screen captures in a .clp file by opening Clipboard Viewer in the Windows accessories menu and using save as to save the screen image.
It is a matter of personal preference, but I have always thought that the images pasted directly look less distorted than the bitmaps.

You could also try using a program called Hardcopy (http://www.hardcopy.de/hardcopy/english/index.htm) which allows you to take screen shot (or any portion of the screen) into a variety of formats and/or paste them directly into other documents. Its freeware, so you can try it out and I think its $8 to register it. I use this all the time, it works well.
