Dear Forum,
I've recently started work at a company that has 2 brand new Agilent 1100 HPLC systems, but they do not have the 'Gameboy' controllers with them.
What is the purpose of them? Surely all the functions can be controlled through the Chemstation software?
Many thanks

We have one 1100 with gameboy, one without. We don't use the gameboy controller at all. Agilent/HP usually gives more than one way to do the same function (like with its 1050 system, can control through keyboards on front of instrument or through computer, and GUI vs. drop-down menus).

I think the idea is that some people might want to buy a different data analysis system from the Agilent Chemstation. Maybe all the data is fed to a central LIMS system. If this is the case, you may need some local way of controlling the HPLC-this is where the gameboy comes in. I think it is a cheap way of controlling the system for people who don't need/don't want the Chemstation. If you are using the Chemstation then there is no need for the gameboy.

Maybe, in a rare case when your Chemstation is unprecedentedly brokendown and you want to clean the analytical column, so the gameboy is the only choice
