Dear all,

I am wondering if anyone could tell me how to reduce the emulsion after LLE. I have been involving the method development work on the extraction of hormone residues in milk. At the moment, I add NaCl to milk sample prior to the liquid liquid extraction by TBME. After extraction and centrifuge, a thick emulsion appears in between the TBME layer and the milk layer. The amount of such emulsion is even larger when second extraction is performed. Is there any other method in reducing emulsion? Somebody's told me to add long chain alcohol or put the liquid in freezer? Do they work? Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Uberto
