I need to separate oligomers of glucose. Is a sulfonated polystyrene column in the silver form, eg. Biorad HPX-87A, still the best way to do this separation?

Is it a good assumption that the higher oligomers will have nearly the same response factor wt/Vol by RI detection?

You do not say how big the oligomers are?
1000 daltons ?
It is possible to separate a range of sugars isocratically using the Metrohm Bioscan (a pulse amperiometric detector PAD). Column a Metrohm Carbosorb1
Eluent is 50 mM NaOH with some xx mM NaAcetate depending on quickly you would like the sugars to come off the column.
details on the Metrohm web page www.metrohm.com
good luck Ed Farmer
