For some reason two compounds that are very similar (the only difference is a single methyl group) have very different resolutions. I am doing 40/40/20 gradient using MeOH, H2O, and ACN. The two compunds that are giving such a problem are glyoxal and methylglyoxal. No on in my task group can figure out the drastic difference in retention as the concentrations increase in the calibration standards. Any advice or help would be greatly appreciated!

Tina, you mentioned gradient...... from 40/40/20 to ??? What kind of column? Sounds like the componds of interest are well seperated and you should be very happy. I am not sure what your problem is. Please, we need more info.
