seeking advice on what kind of software is good to handle chromatogram for presentation purpose, such as to compare in parallel, or put multi chromatograms into one plot, easy to move, shift, pull and draw, and add captions to lines and peaks. my raw data is from chromquest, can only export to ascii or AIA format.

I use the ChroMerge software advertised under the header of this forum. I use "add object" in Power Point and ChroMerge comes up as an option. ChromMerge uses .aia format. I bring it in and edit it with PP. You can do overlays, but it us a manual process. ChroMerge doesn't have the option of overlaying. I can make pretty decent presentation slides in PP though and the software is not very expensive. Let me know if you find something better!

Your ChromQuest can do all what you want. Use right click on the graph; the "add trace" function allows you to overlay as many traces as you want; the "operation/move trace" function allows to move any trace; etc...
The function "utility/copy to clipboard" allows to paste a copy of the screen in Word or PowerPoint or any other software.

thanks, i know these functions in chromquest, use them all the time. but can it do parallel alignment?(multiple axis in one page) it can only do overlay. and the appearance in chromquest does not look very good for presentation purpose, besides, the software is very slow when adding trace. add to add captions i still need to use powerpoint or something. what about Gramms 386? use it many years ago.

I've used Grams 386 as well. I think the ChroMerge is a better option. It keeps the resolution and does not revert to the monitor's resolution. You can even vary the thickness of the chromatogram line. The multi overlay or stacked chromatogram option is about the only thing missing from Chromerge, but the work around is not too labor intensive (once you've done it a couple of times).

About ChromQuest: You probably have an old version. The current versions (3 or 4) are more powerfull and easy to use. Anyway, even in v.2 each trace can have its own scale (right click/ properties), and you may change all the colors, thickness of traces, etc using right click/Appearance. I agree on the point you have to use PowerPoint or Word to add captions.
I never had the opportunity to use ChromMerge or Gram. Sorry!

I am working with an older version of ChromQuest software and am having difficulty with communication between the autosampler and the software. When a sequence is established and run, the autosampler never retrieves a vial, and the message "Waiting for trigger" appears on the monitor indefinitely. I understand that the trigger is generated by the autosampler upon injection. The instrument status window claims that the autosampler is ready, but the sample line always reads "None" despite the fact that I have defined the location of the first vial.
I would appreciate any advice about this problem!
