I am looking for any method development that does not involve ashing the sample before analysis. The type of sample will be dry RTE cereal. Any body care to share their ideas?

Metrohm has developed dialysis as a sample preparation technique for ion chromatography. It is convenient for separation of ionic components(anion or cation) from macromolecules in emulsions. It is automated and followed by IC determination of the Ca, Mg and K.

Are you looking for *total* or *soluble* Ca, Mg, and K? If it's the latter, then you should be able to whomp up an extraction and / or dialysis to get the stuff out. If it's the former, then some type of acid digestion will be required to get the insoluble minerals (think CaCO3 !) into solution.

The dialysis system kirk describes above can be fitted to non-metrohm devices too. Samples it handles are milk / urine / yoghurts etc.
However, I note that Ca and Mg binds to everything and the dog!!. So you may get disagreements in the results. You have to try it and see.
Acidify your samples to release the Ca to pH 2 to 3.5
