i have a sample that is short (7-8 C atom) alkyl chain diastereomers, with no aromatic rings.
have tried to separate on both ODS and Hypercarb column with no success. i figured the chain structure make it not rigid at all, so it's hard to fit any mechanism to separation.
any idea?
seems to me most time for such separation is just try and error, any guideline practically useful? most books just talk about general.

tried that, not much difference,THF is the strongest, peak comes out earlier, but no separation.
