I was wondering if anyone has experience using Chrom Merge? Likes/Dislikes? I am using Waters HPLC systems with Waters ExpertEase Suitability Software Version 3.2 for data analysis. It's not the most user friendly software. Does anyone know if Chrom Merge is compatible with this?

What I can tell you is Shimadzu's
Class V_ won't work! Neither will
Scientific Software's EZChrom!

I'll let other people give Chrom Merge likes/dislikes (I'm obviously biased :) ). As far as compatibility goes, Chrom Merge works with "AIA" files (actually, officially called "Andi" files -- that's short for "analytical data interchange"). What you have to do is is export from your data system as an Andi file. That means that Chrom Merge works with *any* data system that supports Andi import/export.
The bad news is that, as far as I know, Expert Ease predates the AIA/Andi standard, so it won't work. It does work with Waters Millennium.
And, by the way, it *does* work with both EZ Chrom and Class VP.

Wrong Tom Jupille,
It _does NOT_ work with both EZ Chrom and Class VP. Don't pass "Go" and don't collect $200.00!

OK, it's been little while since I looked. Would somebody do me a favor and e-mail me an Andi file exported from either EZ-Chrom or Class VP. I'll take a look at it with Chrom Merge and report back. If there's a problem, we certainly want to fix it!
Thanks!

I am the author of Chrom Merge, so I know a lot about it.
Just today I was talking to a programmer at Scientific Software regarding Chrom Merge and EZ Chrom. Today they sent me instructions for exporting Andi (.cdf) files from their EZ Chrom Elite system. Scientific Software has always used Chrom Merge as the standard by which they test the files they export from their program.
I have attached the file that describes the process.

Chrom Merge does work with all Waters software that can make an Andi/chromatography file. I am not sure if Expert Ease can make Andi files or not. I suggest that you contact Waters and ask.
If you have an Andi file from them that does not work, I will modify the program so that it does.

ACD/ChromManager will import data from the Millennium Project Manager for further processing, such as baseline correction, annotation, deconvolution of overlapping peaks and assignment of structures to peaks. Build searchable databases of chromatograms with their associated structures and relevant data. Copy and paste into your favourite windows programs. Chromatograms and associated chromatographic data can all be input for method optimization by ACD/LC Simulator.
For more detailed information please see
http://www.acdlabs.com/products/chrom_lab/
ACD/ChromManager is compatible with version 3.05 or greater of Millennium32. It has been developed in conjunction with Waters as part of the Millennium Software Partnership Program.

As we are discussing on the compatibility of Chrom Merge with other softwares I take this opportunity to inquire about compatibility of another software from LC Resources that is Drylab. I purchased this software from Perkin Elmer (Who call it Turbosimulation Software) along with their Turbochrom Professional Version 4.1 few years back. Now I wish to upgrade my chromatography data system to Turbochrom Client Server version 6.1 which a 32 bit system. The local Perkin Elmer expert has informed that my version of Drylab will not be compatible with Turbochrom C/S. Please advise whether LC Resources have introduced any new version of Drylab which will be compatible with Turbochrom C/S. Also advise whether I will be able to import Turbochrom C/S data directly into Drylab without converting it to ANDI format. Whether this new version (if any) will support long file names of Turbochrom C/S.
Thanks in advance

DryLab is compatible with Windows NT, 95/98 and 3.1. Your existing version of DryLab should work fine with Turbochrom Client Server 6.1, but it may not be able to read/write turbochrom data directly. I am not sure if Perkin Elmer still has support for DDE in Client Server 6.1. If they have removed it, then it will not work.
LC Resources is currently working on a 32-bit version of DryLab that will go to beta on the 15th and ship the first of the year. They will need to discuss compatibility with Perkin Elmer at that time.

If you are from Europe, give me a short note at Info@Molnar-Institut.com.
We will find a solution for you.
The data import doesn't have to go through the AIA-file. You can expert to Excel, make peak tracking there and import from there into DryLab.
Best regards

We have found, that EZChrom version 6.6 does not support the AIA format correctly, but the version 6.7 does.
