Hello

I'm looking for applications (RP-HPLC) to analyse dexamethasone in pharmaceutical dosage forms. I hope to see some peaks of degradation products with this application. But I don't really know them. Is there any information about this problem available ? Also about degradation pathways ?

Thanks a lot
Florian

A quick lit search of dexamethasone produce dozens of hits of which I will provide you with one. A trip to the library is always the place to start.

Just watch the EP or the USP, there is a lot of information about degradation products. For a method you should try the method from the farmacopeia, or develop it by your own, try the basics: use a column for basic compounds (eg X-Terra) and try a gradient from water methanol, then go to a isocratic method. Try also to use ACN instead of MetOH, this change a lot of things for the retention of corticoids.

I'm sorry I can't give the whole method, because we have had the same problem, and we had to investigate a lot of time in it,

Lot of succes, and if you have questions, just ask it, I maybe can give a lot of hints.
