Hi All:
I am developing a method which needs THF as the organic component. I was told that PERK tubing is not compatible with THF and thus should be avoided. That is fine and I can use stainless steel tubing to connect the column. Then does somebody know what kind of tubing I should use to connect the slovent reservoir and the pump? Is regular plastic tubing fine?
Thanks for any comments

Most solvent tubing is teflon PFA tubing and is fine for THF. In fact I have used PEEK tubing on the column inlet side for many THF applications without any problems. See http://www.upchurch.com/TechInfo/chemselect.asp
Unless you are running at very high temp I don't think you will have a problem.

In my experience even at lower temperatures prolonged exposure to THF makes PEEK tubing brittle. I think the THF leaches the plasticisers out of the tubing. Where does the platiciser go is what would worry me?
