When using a programmable detector some people recommend not autozeroing the detector after every wavelength change in a run as it is possible to correctly integrate the peaks by setting baseline events -p/+p before and after the wavlength change step in the method. I am not able to get any satisfactory answer on why one should not autozero after the wavelength change. Some people say autozeroing often can damage detector. can anybody offer any better explanation.

with best regards
