Deal all,
we have a new product that comprised of Niacin and Lovastatin . I want to analyse this two compounds at the same chromatogram and I hope it won't take a long time. but I found it is a little difficult . because Niacin is water soluable very easily , however Lovastatin is unsoluable .so the Niacin is weak reserved and lovastatin is relatively strong reserved. I have tried ion-pair chromatography . but they are not so ideal . do anybody have a good sugestion for this?
Thanks !
Gavin Chan

I found this reference:

Determination of lovastatin concentration by reverse-phase liquid chromatography
Qingdao Huagong Xueyuan Xuebao 20 (1999) 353-356 Li, L. and Wu, J. C.A., C.A
Technique: LC;

I don't know if it will help or not but it may be worth a look.

Have you looked at the USP method for lovastatin? It uses a C18 column with ACN and buffer. From the USP methods of both nicacin and lovastatin it looks like you could assay them together.

Just my opinion,

Melissa

Dear Melissa ,
I have not been on the Chromforum for a long time, so I didn't see your reply.Thank you for your warm heart .
Actually , I have tried to use the methods for Niacin and Lovastatin in the USP.but they didn't work. Niacin just reserve weakly.evenly with CN column and Ion-pair and pH far away from the pKa.
I am continuing to develope this method now, so anyone's advice is welcomed.
Gavin
