I work with an Alliance system which is controlled by Millenium software.
I'd like to start the Alliance remote. Does anybody know how to do this?

Can you define remote or describe what you want to do in more detail?

It means that the Alliance system have to be started by means of another instrument. This can be either a contact closure or a TTL input signal.

The basic answer to your question is yes. The Alliance can be remote started by another instrument. In the manual (that is where I found this info) it describes remote starting from an alternate autosampler using the "Operate Gradient by Event In" function via contact closure.

If this is not what you want to do, then more details on exactly what you do want to do might be helpful.

Thank you A.A. for your response.

Because I don't own the system myself I do not have a copy of the manual.
From your reply I understand that it is necessary
that the pump is being triggered.
If I do so will the detector also starts it's program?

The Alliance can send a contact closure to start the detector. BTW, manuals are available on www.waters.com Under the Instrumenation and Software pulldown, select the user documentation library, then Instrument Product Documents. A PDF copy of the users guide is available there.
