You may consider using video devices such as those manufactured by Camag (VideoStore+Reprostar and/or Reprostar with digital camera) if you do only qualitative or semi-quantitative work (quantitative would be documented throug densitometry records).

There are other manufacturers, but I don't know their products well (Desaga, UVP, Vilbert-Lourmat ...)
