Specifically which chromatographic property or properties are you interested in finding an analog for in another product? PH stability?

Why should you take an alternative?
If I found a columns that matches my specs, I would only change if the columns isn't supplied anymore.

Dear Anonymous 1;

I have done some comparison separating biomolecules of about 5k daltons in the Xterra MS C18 and the Diazem Peptica C18-D. Both have performed very much the same, and the Peptica column is cheaper.

Good Luck;

Benjamin

Dear Benjamin,

the Peptica might be cheaper...but there are other points to consider.
The Xterra MS shows very little bleeding, this might be an advantage when doing MS-Detection. Another point is life-time of the column. I am using all kinds of Xterra and I have made thousands of injections even at low pH as 1.5 and they all are still doing their job.

Hope this helps...

Frank

As far as an alternative for XTerra goes, there really isn't one at the moment. The original questions still remains: Why are you looking for an alternative?

It seems most of participant of this discussion including originator are Waters' men.
Once we've purchased a Pico-Tag column from Waters which voided badly after less than 100 injections.

No, I 'm not a Waters Rep.
But I do have my experience with Waters columns.
Concerning the Pico-Tag column from Waters, it seems man typically remembers only the bad things in life. What about other vendors??? I am using the Atlantis from Waters for some time now and...OK..i have had one column out of many that voided badly after 200 injections (it was always 0.1% TFA in water). But there was no real alternative to this method...

Life isn't always only black or white...

Frank

Hi Anonymous #1
if you search for a column that work at high pH (e.g. pH=11) you can try Zorbax Extend.

P.S. I'm not an Agilent' man. I have only tried Xterra and Zorbax Extend with good results for both columns.
