Dear Chromatographers
I am currently developing a HPLC assay for the analysis of a drug in whole human blood (sample clean-up is performed using solvent extraction). I am using a 1mm microbore column (C1) in order to enhance the sensitivity of the assay. I usually use the Phenomenex "SecurityGuard" cartridge systems for column protection but the smallest cartridges are only suitable for columns with a 2mm diameter (peak shape is severely compromised if I attempt to use these). Hence, I am currently using a combination of a Phenomenex "Krudcatcher" (a disposable in-line filter, 0.5u) and a standard stainless steel in-line filter (also 0.5u).
Does anybody know of a manufacturer who produces guard cartridges or columns suitable for use with microbore (1mm) columns?
