Greetings All:
I've been frantically looking for an LC method for corosolic acid ( 2 hydroxyursolic acid) and I'm stuck.
Looked all over the net and couldn't get anything.
Can anyone help? Any information would be highly appreciated.
Thanks all.

This is a triterpene compound normally isolated from a leaf extract - I think. What kind of method do you need? What is the matrix?

Dear Tom:
Sorry about the delay in replying to you. I was out of town for a few days.
I'm putting together a review article on Lagerstroemia speciosa, also known as Banaba. The leaf of this plant contains Corosolic acid, which is claimed to possess hypoglycemic properties. I need an HPLC method for corosolic acid in banaba leaf extract.
Can you offer any suggestions?
I'd really appreciate any inputs you may have.
Thanks for your assist.

hello, all friends, I have done some experiment to analyse the corosolic acid content by using HPLC£¬and have an HPlC method for that, if you need it, I welcome to communication on it!

Corosolic acid is a bugger to deal with due to its low absorbance by UV, it is also difficult to get a standard with good purity. I have had a good amount of experience with these terpenes, and most of the time there are only slight changes to the base skeleton which makes separation difficult, ie. Centella asiatica and its terpenes. My biggest problem at the moment is a good extraction method for finished products which is quick and simple. When something is only 1% in the plant and then is diluted down in a finished product in which the absorbance is low to start, detection becomes very difficult. It is no problem in Banaba leaf and its extracts, but difficult in finished products.

Dear Friends
I am Venkat. When I am searching for corosolic acid HPLC method, I got this site. I have HPLC method which gives a good separation of corosolic acid and a impurity. Can any body has a good method of extraction. Clue to this extraction - this compound cannot be extracted by water, methanol. Any TLC system / spray ragent to calculate in the initial stage. You can communicate to me at s_v_raman@indiatimes.com

Dear friends,
I would like to know how to extract Banaba the best way in order to get the 1% Corosolic Acid and how to measure the corosolic acid using HPLC or other equipments if there is any.
We use Alc/Water 20/80 for extraction but the result shows only 0.19% of corosolic acid. This was measured in the US by our buyer. It could be wrong.
The leaves we collect are about 15 to 20 cm in length and we storage them in room temprature for 2 days prior to sun drying.
Anybody who can assist me ?
Kind regards.
