Lloyd Snyder et al. recommend 1,1,2-trichloro-trifluoroethane (instead of hexane) for use in normal-phase HPLC, because it is completely miscible with most other solvents of interest.

What with the ozone hole, this material is apparently all but unavailable these days, and I was wondering whether anyone could recommend a substitute.

Aldrich lists it; however, it isn't cheap.
